Candyman también conocido como Daniel Robitaille es un asesino legendario del cine del horror el cual aparece en la pelicula de 1992 del mismo nombre y en las secuelas Candyman 2 Farewell to the flesh y Candyman 3 Day of the Dead. Candyman es un asesino legendario espectral que tiene como proposito principal el matar a todos aquellos que lo invoquen y que lo reten de cierta manera a manifestarse para probar si la leyenda urbana de este ser en verdadera. Candyman esta basado en una historia clasica del reconocido autor del horror Clive Barker conocida como The Forbidden o lo Prohibido. Candyman era originalmente un joven negro hijo de un esclavo el cual pudo comprar su libertad despues de que el invento una maquina que mejora la produccion en masa del calzado, lo que basicamente convirtio al señor Robitaille en una persona adinerada, esta es la razon por la que el decidio educar a su hijo de la mejor forma y en las mejores instituciones educativas de los Estados Unidos, por esta razon Daniel se convirtio no solo en un hombre joven culto sino tambien en un talentoso artista ya que el descubrio en estas escuelas que su talento natural era el ser un pintor, ya que nadie podia el capturar la esencia de una persona como el. Es debido a lo popular que era, que Daniel fue contratado por un hombre blanco muy rico para que retratara a su hija en una pintura sin embargo los dos jovenes se enamoraron y Daniel embarazo a la chica, esta es la razon por la que el padre de la joven mando asesinar a Daniel, es este acto de maldad lo que convirtio al joven Daniel Robitaille en un alma en pena y en un ser espectral que buscaba el vengarse de lo malo que le habian hecho. Asi transformandose en la leyenda urbana que toda la gente en el sur de Chicago conoce como el Hombre de Dulce o Candyman, siendo en esencia un villano trágico quine fue victima de sus circusntacias.
