India. Seen as the bastion of the Hindu faith, it is actually home to the 3rd largest Muslim population in the world. The introduction of Islam as a political power force in the subcontinent came through the efforts of two Muslim dynasties centred in modern-day Afghanistan, the Ghaznavids and the Ghurids. Through the actions of their two respective greatest rulers, Mahmud of Ghazni and Muizz ul-Din Ghuri, northern India was constantly exposed to raids and in time, the establishment of Muslim state. Today we are going to start a new series based on life Muslim Sultan Mahmood Ghaznavi in this series you will know History of Mahmud of Ghazni Why did he Attacks 17 Times on India & Destroyed Somnath Temple & why he was against idol worship. Yamīn-ud-Dawla Abul-Qāṣim Maḥmūd ibn Sebüktegīn (Persian: یمین‌الدوله ابوالقاسم محمود بن سبکتگین 2 November 971 – 30 April 1030), usually known as Mahmud of Ghazni (Persian: محمود غزنوی) or Mahmud Ghaznavi was the founder of the Turkic Ghaznavid dynasty, ruling from 998 to 1030. At the time of his death, his kingdom had been transformed into an extensive military empire, which extended from northwestern Iran proper to the Punjab in the Indian subcontinent, Khwarazm in Transoxiana, and Makran.Highly Persianized, Sultan Mahmud continued the bureaucratic, political, and cultural customs of his predecessors, the Samanids, which established the ground for a Persianate state in northwestern India.[6] His capital of Ghazni evolved into a significant cultural, commercial, and intellectual centre in the Islamic world, almost rivalling the important city of Baghdad. The capital appealed to many prominent figures, such as al-Biruni and Ferdowsi.[6]Mahmud ascended the throne at the age of 27[7] upon his father's death, albeit after a brief war of succession with his brother Ismail. He was the first ruler to hold the title Sultan ("authority"), signifying the extent of his power while at the same time preserving an ideological link to the suzerainty of the Abbasid Caliphs. During his rule, he invaded and plundered the richest cities and temple towns, such as Mathura and Somnath, in medieval India seventeen times, and used the booty to build his capital in Ghazni.Mahmud was born in the town of Ghazni in the region of Zabulistan (now present-day Afghanistan) on 2 November 971. His father, Sabuktigin, was a Turkic slave commander who laid foundations to the Ghaznavid dynasty in Ghazni in 977, which he ruled as a subordinate of the Samanids, who ruled Khorasan and Transoxiana. Mahmud's mother was the daughter of an Iranian aristocrat from Zabulistan,[10][11] and is therefore known in some sources as Mahmud-i Zavuli ("Mahmud from Zabulistan"). Not much about Mahmud's early life is known, other than that he was a school-fellow of Ahmad Maymandi, a Persian native of Zabulistan and foster brother of hisMahmud married a woman named Kausari Jahan, and they had twin sons, Mohammad and Ma'sud, who succeeded him one after the other; his grandson by Mas'ud, Maw'dud Ghaznavi, also later became ruler of the empire. His sister, Sitr-e-Mu'alla, was married to Dawood bin Ataullah Alavi, also known as Ghazi Salar Sahu, whose son was Ghazi Saiyyad Salar Masud.Mahmud's companion was a Georgian slave, Malik Ayaz, about whom poems and stories have been told.In 994 Mahmud joined his father Sabuktigin in the capture of Khorasan from the rebel Fa'iq in aid of the Samanid Emir, Nuh II. During this period, the Samanid Empire became highly unstable, with shifting internal political tides as various factions vied for control, the chief among them being Abu'l-Qasim Simjuri, Fa'iq, Abu Ali[citation needed], the General Bekhtuzin as well as the neighbouring Buyid dynasty and Kara-Khanid Khanate. #SultanMehmudGhaznavi #MahmudofGhazni #SultanGhazni

In this video you will know Why did Mahmud Ghaznavi invade India? Mahmoud Ghaznavi's declaration of war against the sect that legitimizes luxury Mahmud of Ghazni or Mahmud Ghaznavi was the first and perhaps the most powerful ruler of the Turkic dynasty. Having ascended the throne at the age of 27, Mahmud was known for practicing bureaucratic, political, and cultural customs that were highly influenced by the Persian school of thought. As an able ruler, he made the capital of Ghazni a center of culture, commerce, and intellect. Considering himself to be the “Shadow of God on Earth,” Mahmud plundered and looted some of the richest and wealthiest cities and countries at that time, and one of these countries was India. Mahmud of Ghazni is believed to have invaded India 17 times during which he plundered many richest cities and temple towns in India. However, like many other invaders, he was not able to conquer India. The Arab movement to India took place after Islam became prominent in the Semitic world. The Arab Invasion of India was led by Mohammad bin Qasim. The Arabs were followed by the Turks. The initial raids were led by Mahmud of Ghazni from between 1000 AD and 1026 AD. Mohammad Ghori fought with Prithviraj Chauhan in the First battle of Tarain in 1191 A.D and the Second Battle of Tarain in 1192 A.D. Later some of his generals like Qutubuddin Aibak stayed back in Delhi and established the Sultanate.

In this video you will know Why did Mahmud Ghaznavi invade India? Mahmud Ghaznavi's Warrior Who Killed 100 Infidels on the Battlefield Alone Mahmud of Ghazni or Mahmud Ghaznavi was the first and perhaps the most powerful ruler of the Turkic dynasty. Mahmud of Ghazni wanted the capital of Ghazni to be the center of all political power in Central Asia, and invading India was one of the steps to accomplish this task. By invading India, he wanted to prove his might and also expand his empire. The first invasion by Mahmud of Ghazni was in 1000 A.D. that led to the capture of some of the frontier forts in the Khyber Pass. After capturing the forts, Mahmud of Ghazni appointed governors in these cities and forts and left India. In 1001 A.D., Mahmud of Ghazni invaded the Hindu Shahi kingdom near Peshawar. The ruler of the kingdom, Jaipal, fought a fierce battle with the invader but lost. In this invasion, Mahmud of Ghazni added 50 elephants and 2,50,000 dinars to his booty. Mahmud of Ghazni also added several thousand Indians as slaves to his empire. The third invasion took place in 1005 A.D. when Mahmud attacked Bhera. The ruler Bijai Rai offered a tough fight to the invaders but lost. The entire kingdom was looted by Mahmud of Ghazni and several people were killed mercilessly. In 1006 A.D., Mahmud Ghazni invaded Multan which was under an Arab ruler. He was able to conquer Multan in a week and plundered all of its wealth. The year 1007 A.D., saw Multan being invaded yet again and Mahmud Ghazni was easily able to defeat the ruler who had denounced Islam. The Sixth Invasion In 1008 A.D., Mahmud Ghazni attacked Anandpal, the ruler of the Hindu Shahi kingdom. Anandpal had called upon the rules of Ujjain, Gwalior, Delhi, Kanauj, Ajmer, etc. to help him defeat the invaders. A race called Khokars also helped Anandpal attack Mahmud Ghazni’s army and killed almost 5000 soldiers of Mahmud’s army. However, on the battlefield, Ananpal’s elephant got scared and fled from the field, leaving the other rulers and the entire army at the mercy of Mahmud of Ghazni. Reportedly, Ghazni’s army slaughtered the army of the Hindus and killed almost 20,000 of them. The Seventh Invasion The seventh invasion of Mahmud of Ghazni was that of Nagarkot in Kangra. The region was known for its wealthy temples. It is believed that after this invasion, Mahmud of Ghazni returned with so much wealth, jewelry, silver, and gold that his people congregated to see the wealth of India. The Invasion of Thanesar Mahmud of Ghazni came to know about the wealth in Thanesar’s temples and decided to invade it in 1014 A.D. Mahmud of Ghazni and his army plundered the city, killing many people and plundered its temples. Invasions of Mathura and Kanauj The invasions of Mathura and Kanauj took place in 1018 and 1019 A.D., respectively. Mathura, a city with over 1000 temples, attracted Mahmud of Ghazni to invade it and loot it. The people and the rulers of Mathura did not resist the invasion. The same was the story of Kanauj from where Mahmud of Ghazni was able to amass a lot of wealth. The Invasion of the Somnath Temple The invasion of the Somnath Temple was the last invasion of Mahmud of Ghazni in India in 1026 A.D. In 1025 A.D., Mahmud invaded this temple for the first time and took away a lot of its wealth. The temple was known for its riches. It is said that Mahmud of Ghazni gathered a wealth equal to almost 20 million U.S. dollars after invading this temple. Though the Rajput kings gave a tough fights to the army of Mahmud of Ghazni, they ultimately were defeated. In 1026 A.D., Mahmud of Ghazni invaded the temple again to defeat the Jats who had attacked the army when it was on its way back after amassing a lot of wealth from the Somnath Temple. The invasions of Mahmud Ghazni led to the spread of Islam in India. In fact, several people were forced to convert to Islam, and it also provided a basis for the Mughal Dynasty in India. The invasions by Mahmud of Ghazni revealed the weaknesses of the Indian rulers as well the political structure of India, leaving the country even more vulnerable to further invasions. #SultanMehmudGhaznavi #MahmudofGhazni #SultanGhazni

The Ghaznis weren't interested in India at all. It was the preemptive invasion by Jaypala which got the Afghans interested. Ghaznis were unifying all the afghan tribes and this made indic kings like Jaypala very uncomfortable cos the disenfranchised tribes of Afghaniatan was a buffer between Persian and Indic civilizations. Now the buffer zone itsrlf was contemplating heading towards a nation state. Jaypala felt this as a threat and invaded the Ghaznis using scorch Earth tactics. In this video you will know Why did Mahmud Ghaznavi invade India? & How Ghazni Palace, which was obtained after the blood of thousands of Muslims, is turned into a ruin today In 1001 Mahmud of Ghazni first invaded modern day Pakistan and then parts of India. Mahmud defeated, captured, and later released the Hindu Shahi ruler Jayapala, who had moved his capital to Peshawar (modern Pakistan). Jayapala killed himself and was succeeded by his son Anandapala. In 1005 Mahmud of Ghazni invaded Bhatia (probably Bhera), and in 1006 he invaded Multan, at which time Anandapala's army attacked him. The following year Mahmud of Ghazni attacked and crushed Sukhapala, ruler of Bathinda (who had become ruler by rebelling against the Shahi kingdom). In 1008-1009, Mahmud defeated the Hindu Shahis in the Battle of Chach. Mahmud of Ghazni or Mahmud Ghaznavi was the first and perhaps the most powerful ruler of the Turkic dynasty. The Ghaznavids started out as a small sultanate in what is now Afghanistan in 977. They would go on to conquer much of Persia by 1030, before being pushed out by the Turkic Seljuks. In 1152, the Ghurid Sultanate was formed next to the Ghaznavids. They would conquer most of the Ghaznavids' territory by 1175 with the exception of the capital, which would fall in 1186. From here, the Ghurids would go on to conquer much of northern India. Despite collapsing in 1206, the Ghurids' empire would give rise to the Dehli Sultanate and centuries of Muslim rule in northern India. In 1001 Mahmud of Ghazni first invaded modern day Pakistan and then parts of India. Mahmud of Ghazni wanted the capital of Ghazni to be the center of all political power in Central Asia, and invading India was one of the steps to accomplish this task. By invading India, he wanted to prove his might and also expand his empire. Masʽud I of Ghazni (Persian: مسعود غزنوی), known as Amīr-i Shahīd (امیر شهید; "the martyr king") (998 – 17 January 1040), was sultan of the Ghaznavid Empire from 1030 to 1040. He rose to power by seizing the Ghaznavid throne from his younger twin Mohammad, who had been nominated as the heir upon the death of their father Mahmud of Ghazni. His twin was shortly blinded and imprisoned. However, when much of Masʽud's western domains had been wrested from his control, his troops rebelled against him and reinstated Mohammad to the throne. Mas'ud was born along with his younger twin brother Mohammad in 998 at the Ghaznavid capital of Ghazni. In 1015, Mas'ud was appointed as heir of the Ghaznavid Empire by his father, and was also appointed as the governor of Herat. Five years later, he led an expedition in Ghur, which was still a pagan enclave. Mas'ud later participated in the campaigns of his father in Jibal, where they managed to annex the Buyid amirate of Ray which was then under the rule of Majd al-Dawla. After Mas'ud's father left the region, Mas'ud was in charge of the Ghaznavid operations in western Iran; he continued his campaigns further west, where he managed to defeat the Kakuyid ruler Muhammad ibn Rustam Dushmanziyar, who made a treaty where he agreed to recognize Ghaznavid authority. However, Muhammad kept violating the treaty, and in 1030 wrested Ray from the Ghaznavids. During the same period, Mahmud, because of his bad relations with Mas'ud, changed his opinion, and appointed Mohammad as his heir, who was much less experienced in government and military affairs than Mas'ud. Mahmud shortly died, and was succeeded by Mohammad #SultanMehmudGhaznavi #MahmudofGhazni #SultanGhazni

In this video you will know Why did Mahmud Ghaznavi invade India? & How Mahmud Ghaznavi's Spy Darwaish stood firm in front of the enemy Mahmud of Ghazni or Mahmud Ghaznavi was the first and perhaps the most powerful ruler of the Turkic dynasty.
