Why do I hike 2: Hardships of a thru hike is in editing process. You can see the trailer here: 🤍 Hi, my name is Nikola Horvat - Tesla and I present to you my first solo documentary. In summer of 2019. I went to hike Colorado Trail to find the reasons why do I hike. This was independent project and the movie was filmed, edited and written by myself. 🤍 Store with prints - 🤍 ABOUT THE HIKE In October 2022 I hiked a part of the Alta Via 2 route in the Dolimites, Italy. My route started at Passo Rodella (1870m) where I headed into the Peitlerkofelgruppe. I camped in Val della Roa just past Forcella della Roa (2617m). The second day I headed into the Puezgruppe and camped near the peak of Sass da Ciampac (2667m). Day 3 I headed down to Passo Gardena (2121m) and up into Gruppo del Sella into the fog. I passed Refugio Franco Cavazza al Piscidù (2587m) and headed through the snow to Refugio Boè without seeing a single person. On day 4 the weather had cleared and I headed down to Passo Pordoi from where I drove to Gruppo della Marmolada only to find out my originally planned route was closed off due to recent avalanche activity last summer. Plan B: I drove to Malga Ciapela, and headed up to Pas de Ombreta (2702m) on the backside of the Marmolada Gruppo. I spent the night at Bivacco Marco Dal Bianco. Day 5: Trail E650 to the peak Ombreta Orientale (3011m), then via the AV2 route to Passo de le Cirèle (2683m) and Passo San Pelligrino. On day 6 I headed to Passo Valles from whereI made my way to Bivacco Giorgio Brunner on the AV2 route, via Forcella Margherita (2655m) and Passo delle Farangole (2814m). Day 7 I merged back with the AV2, passed Refugio di Rosetta and Refugio Pradidali then headed up into the massif of Pale di San Martino Parco Naturale. I tried to reach another bivacco only to find out it was only reachable by a climbers route. Instead I wild camped on the (cold) plateau. On day 8 I headed to Passo delle Lede and down to Val Canali. From there I drove to the Tre Cime (Dreizinnen) where I spent my final night above the Dreizinnenhütte on Sasso di Sesto (2539m). Full itinerary soon on 🤍 This trip is made possible by SOTO. I went hiking the deadliest hiking trail in the world in Huashan mountain near Xi'an, China. It was one of the best experiences I ever had. Morning time around 6am I woke up and a driver picked me up to take me to the base of Huashan mountain. once I got to the base of Mount Hua I got my tickets to get in the mountain and got the cable car which takes around 10 minutes to go up. If you take huashan cable car you skip a couple thousand steps but still once you reach up with the cable car you still have to walk around 3500 steps. Hiking huashan mountain can be one of the deadliest hiking trail in the world because of its safety, once you are going up there is no much protection for you and false step can get you injured very easily in these deadliest hiking trails. The most famous part of huashan mountain in china is the cliffside plank walk. This huashan cliffside plank walk is very scary and famous for how high it is. This cliffside plank walk attracts many tourists and the queue to go to it may take up to 3 or 4 hours. I took a whole day to hike huashan mountain, I made a lot of pictures and videos and I even used my drone there. Hiking mount huashan is a bit scary but at the same time you will love it by the pictures you will be able to get. And this cliffside plank walk is one of the deadliest hiking trails in the world because some people take off their harness so they can have better pictures and once you take it off, one false step and you are gone. Our first vlog on YT is a bit of an experiment: Is our fresh gear good enough again for longer hikes abroad? Are WE fit enough for our next 4 day hiking adventure in Greece? And how are we dealing with vlogging while hiking, especially because all our camera equipment is fairly new to us, since we upgraded it all during lockdown. We drove to Hoenderloo, eastern of NP Hoge Veluwe, to completely hike across the Veluwe, camp on a nature camp site western of the NP, and hike across the Veluwe again the next day. In the video is a short review of my new front pack. It's not designed as a front pack, but I like to use it as one. See here for the pouch I used: 🤍 en here for the little carabiners: 🤍 (affiliate links).

In 2022 I thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail... here's how it went. I credit this entire adventure to the amazing people I walked alongside, the trail angels who were more generous than I thought possible and the amazing trail crews from the PCTA. A film could never capture the epic scale of this thing, but I hope to give just a glimpse into the world that is thru-hiking. Please watch in HD or 4K. Glacier National Park is one of those places that you have to see to believe! Epic mountains in every direction, vast landscapes, and endless hiking trails to get you out there - this park was everything that we’ve been looking for since traveling in our van! Hiking to an overlook at Hidden Lake was the highlight of our trip but backpacking and camping at the infamously blue Cracker Lake was a close second. We could have spent a lifetime out there but unfortunately this marks the end of our journey north...for now. Enjoy all of the epic mountain views and good vibes! :) - Like the colors? Tom’s Outdoors presents 'Wake Up and Walk'. A documentary short film following Dominic Erbacher’s 23 day, 700km Australian Alps Walking Track thru-hike and the ups and downs of solo hiking. The AAWT is the oldest long-distance walking trail in Australia. The track traverses 680 kilometres of Australian alpine through Victoria, NSW and ACT. On the 26th of February, Dom left the historic Victorian town, Walhalla, arriving in Tharwa on the outskirts of Canberra early on the morning of the 20th of March. Leeches, snakes, scarce water, injuries, unmarked terrain, steep climbs, blisters and inclement weather threatened to unravel the journey. Stick fishing, ever-changing vistas, rewarding summits, trail magic and friendships made along the way were just a few of the better moments. Regardless of the lows and in pursuit of the highs, the daily purpose became as simple as wake up and walk. A simple, yet astounding notion. But, we are reminded that it’s valuing time outdoors that makes a hike. Not the kilometres walked, the peaks climbed or the nights camped. “Wherever you go and however you go about it, make it your own.” Stats and gear can be found here: 🤍 The uncut hike journal: 🤍 Who are Tom's Outdoors? We're a small family-owned and operated retail store in the NSW Snowy Mountains town of Tumut. Living in Tumut allows us to live and breathe what we sell. Full travel itinerary on: 🤍 Follow me on Instagram: 🤍 ABOUT MAKING CAMPFIRES Due to years of drought and massive wildfires, lighting campfires during hiking season in the Sierra Nevada is no longer recommended. If you do make a campfire, be sure to check all current burn bans and follow all fire regulations as per the land management and permitting agency for your trip area. In addition to your backcountry permit, you must obtain a separate California fire permit in the Sierra. Fire sites near brush, trees, pine duff and other flammable materials are no longer safe. Choose bare rock if possible. Other fire safety methods for clearing a site include cleaning the fire site down to bare dirt, but this counterindicates Leave No Trace principles of minimal impact, which campers should follow at all times in the backcountry. Don't cut wood for fires, choose pre-impacted tent sites, take care not to damage vegetation, pack absolutely all trash, consumables and TP out with you. If you have a legal campfire, make absolutely certain no sparks escape to spread the fire, and put out the fire entirely after you are done with it, using the drown-stir-feel method described in the CA Fire Permit safety test. Don't be the reason for the next giant burn in the Sierra. Take only photos, leave only footprints.
