The Merced Police Department was challenged by the Merced County Sheriff’s Department to a lip sync challenge. In true Merced Police Department fashion, department members teamed up with the community to create a response. MERCED, CA – A subject riding a bicycle on the sidewalk refused to give his ID after being told he was getting a ticket by a much smaller female police officer. He became verbally abusive and refused to obey orders.

A smash and grab robbery in Merced was caught on cell phone video Cell phone video shows a smash and grab robbery of 10 to 15 men descending on a jewelry store in Merced. The suspects used hammers to break the glass and steal whatever they could get their hands on.

The Merced Police Department has arrested a man they believe is responsible for shooting three people at a Merced pizza place Monday night. 21-year-old Adrian Diego Calderon faces murder and attempted murder charges. He was booked into the Merced County Jail and his bail was set at $2 million. It was a chaotic scene inside of Mountain Mike’s Pizza place around 7:30 p.m. Monday as investigators investigated a shooting that sent three people to the hospital. One of the victims, a 38-year-old man, died at the hospital. A California family who disappeared with an alleged kidnapper has been found dead. Merced County Sheriff Vernon Warnke said all four family members – Aroohi Dheri and her parents, 27-year-old Jasleen Kaur and 36-year-old Jasdeep Singh, and the baby's 39-year-old uncle Amandeep Singh – were found dead. A 30-year-old man is facing kidnapping charges after trying to take a 14-year-old girl in Merced, authorities said. It happened on Saturday around 7:26 p.m. near a laundry mat in the 1100 block of West Olive Drive, the Merced Police Department said. Paul Rodriguez was arrested after grabbing a teen's arm and dragging her between two cars, according to police. The teen's father and another man heard her cries for help and confronted the man. A 15-year-old was arrested months after a deadly shooting in Merced, authorities said. Two teenagers were shot while driving in the 1200 block of West Drive at 4:52 p.m. on Dec. 30, the Merced Police Department said in a release. Another case closed: Merced Police announced Thursday that four have been arrested in connection to a homicide earlier this month. During the announcement, police revealed it was gang-related, saying if gangs commit crimes in Merced they will get caught.
