US President's comments come after Opec+ announced it would cut oil production, likely increasing petrol prices in America
US President Joe Biden said the murder of journalist Jamal Kashoggi was "at the top the meeting" when he was received by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) in the country's capital, Jeddah, on Friday. "What happened to Khashoggi was outrageous," Biden said afterwards. After a rather low-key reception at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, Biden was then welcomed to the Saudi royal palace by MBS with a fist bump. The moment was broadcast on Saudi television. Biden was later shown on Saudi media shaking hands with King Salman bin Abdulaziz. The president and crown prince also touched on regional security, as well as cooperating on 5G and 6G mobile technology, during their three-hour meeting. Biden arrived in Saudi Arabia after two days in Israel, seeking to "recalibrate” relations with Riyadh, one of the oldest US allies in the region. US President Joe Biden has ended up with "egg on his face" after deciding to pick a fight with Saudi Arabia all because "he didn't get what he wanted", Sky News host Peter Stefanovic says. It comes as OPEC+ has decided to cut oil production by around two million barrels per day starting in November. President Biden vowed there would be "consequences" for Saudi Arabia over the issue. Mr Stefanovic said before that could happen, Saudi Arabia had "sunk the boot in" to his administration regarding the president's July visit to the country. Saudi officials confirmed a report by the Wall Street Journal that the Biden administration asked Saudi Arabia to delay the cuts until after the midterms to limit political damage if gas prices increased.
A Saudi Arabia television show has mocked Joe Biden and his VP Kamala Harris in a Saturday Night Live style skit by poking fun at the president’s mental fitness as he falls asleep at the podium and confuses certain countries.
President Joe Biden said the U.S. "will take action" on arms sales to Saudi Arabia after oil production cut. RELATED: Biden considering 'alternatives' after OPEC oil production cuts 🤍 Biden is consulting with Congress on whether to take action against Saudi Arabia. The administration argues the Saudi Arabia-led oil cartel’s cut in production will help drive up the cost of gas, boosting Russia’s oil revenue just as the United States and its allies are trying to reduce Russia’s oil profits. Rising pump prices could also hurt Democrats in next month’s midterm elections. Lawmakers have proposed blocking any future arms sales to the Saudis as well as allowing the Justice Department to use antitrust laws to challenge the OPEC+ countries and their state-owned oil companies. While the security strategy doesn't mention Saudi Arabia specifically, in the section on the Middle East, the administration encourages "energy producers to use their resources to stabilize global energy markets, while also preparing for a clean energy future and protecting American consumers." » Subscribe to USA TODAY: 🤍 » Watch more on this and other topics from USA TODAY: 🤍 » USA TODAY delivers current local and national news, sports, entertainment, finance, technology, and more through award-winning journalism, photos, videos and VR. #Biden #SaudiArabia #Oil

US President Joe Biden has treated Saudi Arabia “extremely badly” since he started his administration, former British commander Richard Kemp says. Saudi Arabia and Iran have agreed to restore diplomatic relations and reopen embassies. “That is another consequence of the weakness of the administration in Washington,” Mr Kemp told Sky News Australia.
The Jeddah summit on security and development is being held at a time when the world is witnessing great challenges, Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman said on Saturday in his opening remarks. The Saudi Crown Prince called on Iran to be cooperative and to not interfere in regional affairs. And U.S. President Joe Biden followed the Crown Prince's speech by affirming America's commitment to stop Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. He also said the U.S. was working with Saudi Arabia and Oman to reach a political solution in Yemen. Arab leaders of countries participating in the Jeddah Summit for Security and Development started arriving in Jeddah on Friday, with the bulk touching down on Saturday.

The U.S. is on the verge of losing a major oil supplier. This comes in the wake of the revival of the NOPEC bill by a group of bipartisan U.S. senators earlier this month. Saudi Energy Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman has now warned of an oil embargo in the event of a price cap on Kingdom's supplies. “The price ceiling, whether imposed on a country or a group of countries, and on oil or any other commodity, will lead to an adverse reaction individually or collectively, with unacceptable repercussions represented by large volatility and instability in the markets,” said Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman in an interview with Energy Intelligence published by the Saudi Press Agency. U.S. President Joe Biden and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bump fists before heading inside the Al-Salam Royal Palace for a meeting with King Salman, in Jeddah. U.S. President Joe Biden is in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, the last leg of his trip to the Middle East, flying directly from Tel Aviv on Friday just hours after the Saudi Kingdom announced the opening of its airspace to “all carriers,” ending the country’s ban on flights to and from Israel. The decision is a gesture from Riyadh as part of a broader warming of relations between Israel and the Arab world as they align against the threat from Iran. Biden is claiming it to be the result of his administration’s push toward a more integrated and stable Middle East region. “While this opening has long been discussed, now, thanks to months of steady diplomacy between my Administration and Saudi Arabia, it is finally a reality. Today, I will be the first president of the United States to fly from Israel to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia,” Biden said in a statement. Biden said the Saudi decision can “help build momentum toward Israel’s further integration into the region,” including with the kingdom itself – hinting at a potential diplomatic normalization that would be the most significant expansion of the Trump era Abraham Accords. At the same time, his administration sought to repair ties with the Palestinians, offering economic and technical assistance as he met with President Mahmoud Abbas, head of the Palestinian Authority, in Bethlehem on Friday. 🤍 » Subscribe to VOA News: 🤍 » Watch more VOA News video: 🤍 Voice of America (VOA) is the largest U.S. international broadcaster, providing news and information in more than 40 languages to an estimated weekly audience of 236.8 million people.
